After the CO2 traffic light in the classroom, now heavy rainfall events in the region: pupils in the district of St. Wendel are using a digital DIY innovation from Hochschule Trier to help tackle the climate crisis. Researchers at the Birkenfeld Environmental Campus of Hochschule Trier and a maker from Stuttgart are developing an open-source system for measuring water levels. And the best thing is that everything is also suitable for DIY construction as part of the IoT2 workshop. An initial pilot project has now been launched at the Türkismühle community school in the district of St. Wendel. Local trades businesses, dedicated teachers and the district’s civil protection department have come together to plan and implement the project in order to recruit young talent for STEM professions and make digital solutions tangible.
