BMVI funding guideline “Digitization of municipal transport systems”

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) has published the funding guideline “Digitalization of municipal transport systems” and launched the first call for funding with a total volume of 100 million euros, which addresses the areas of traffic data collection, parking guidance and passenger information systems. Eligible applicants are the municipalities affected by the exceeding of limit values, the respective districts and municipal companies of an affected municipality.

With the “Clean Air Immediate Action Program 2017-2020“, the federal government has launched a package of measures to improve air quality in cities. The immediate action program comprises 1 billion euros. It includes measures for the electrification of urban transport and the construction of charging infrastructure, for the digitalization of transport systems and for retrofitting diesel buses in public transport with exhaust gas aftertreatment systems. All measures should take effect by 2020. As far as possible, the immediate action program is to be implemented on the basis of existing federal funding guidelines. Existing funding programs will be increased financially.
